Nicole Elikolani Prescovia Scherzinger was born on June 29, 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii and is of Filipino and Hawaiian-Russian descent. The performing arts talent runs in her family as her Hawaiian mother Rosemary was a professional hula dancer and her grandmother a popular mariachi singer.

She grew up in Louisville, Kentucky as her military stepfather Gary got transfered there when she was just 6 years old. She attended the Youth Performing Arts School at duPont Manual High School and participated in many plays at the renowned "Actors Theater" of Louisville.
